Landman is a fictional show that was inspired by the reality.
Here we verify parts of the Oil Manufacturing TV series that depends on real life events.
What is Landman?
Landman is an American television drama created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, based on Podcast Boomtown – which was also hosted by the latter.
The show is set in the West Texas world of oil, and explores the lives of people from all aspects of life that seeks to obtain their wealth in this industry.
The series was first shown on November 17, 2024, exclusively on Paramount+, with later episodes that were released per week every Sunday – the first season consists of 10 episodes.
The show was a great success, as it ranked third in the original broadcast series that was watched in 2024, according to a report issued by Luminate.
How accurate is Landman?
Landman is severely derived from the realistic events of the oil industry in Texas.
As co -founder Christian said on the deadline: “Many of them are very accurate.
“Some of them had to press together to make it logical to our characters.
“It is funny, depends on who you ask. My uncle, who has been working in the oil field over the past thirty years, will lead to everything small.
“But I think most of the time, it is safe to say that you get a good feeling of what is like working in oil and gas there.”
Drug gangs
When asked about the realism of the drug gangs in the show, he replied: “I did not address the problems of the cartel in the podcast, but it is a real issue regarding drug trafficking across that region.
“There is oil theft, there is stolen equipment. It is a type of wild West in certain ways there. So this part is accurate.
“The relationship between the cartel and [the fictitious oil business] M-Tex is fictional, but I assume it is in the world of possibilities. “
When asked about the podcasts that reached the screen, Christian said: “There are things all over the entire show, which are a few parts of podcasts.
Pikini dominates Paristas
Christian admitted: “We had a lot of people asking me if there was already Paristas that dominates the bikini serving coffee for men on their way to work in the oil field.
“The answer to that is, yes, there is already. We already had a episode of podcast where we talked to some of these Parista.
“Sexual work is a large part of any city of Boom that is part of the economy. It is part of what happens, then there are deaths on the excavators in the oil field.
“These are things that have already happened. We touched on this in podcasts. We went deeply in some incidents of the oil and safety field.”
“A true story”
The participant's creator went to the show, saying: “Some scenes are directly present, such as the scene of crushing pipes. This is a true story I heard from my uncle.
“It was the pipe rack on which he fell and not the pipes, but it already called his wife before his death.”
“Some things that seem to almost not actually depend on reality,” Christian added.
So although Landman is a fictional chain, it is striving for originality to photograph the oil industry in Texas.
It combines real events, experiences and industrial practices with dramatic stories to create a convincing narration that gives viewers a “decent feeling” of what was really the case.
