In the past, Americans loved a snack – such as Doritus or Twinkies or healthy bars – where they appeared indoors to pay the price of their fuel.

Cigarette packages were also common.

But it seems that customers have turned their back on this tradition – as sales of summer stores decreased sharply.

The sales volume decreased by 4.3 percent in the year to February, according to the Circana Research Company.
