Energy bills are about 111 pounds sterling than they were last year, but the penetration of 1p may help families suffering from financial distress to save money by reducing more than 30 pounds from their energy bill.
With the increase in energy bills and the high cost of living, which makes life difficult for many British families, it can add simple adjustments to save money.
Energy Adviser Robert Andrews from electricity prices says that using a simple piece of paper to test your refrigerator or freezer may reveal the power that you may not know – and the good news is that it can be easily repaired.
He said: “When you wear your refrigerator or seal the freezer over time, it allows cold air to escape and enter warm air, this causes the engine to work more hard than it needs and leads to lost energy around the clock.
The appropriate seal can increase the cost of operating your unit by up to 20 %, and because most people do not know that it is happening, they are unaware of the reason for crawling.

How to use penetration
Robert explains: “To check whether the refrigerator or the freezer leaks from cold air, all you have to do is get a thin piece of paper. Then enter the paper in the middle of the road in the unit and close the door at the top.
“Half of the paper should be inside during half of the exit. From here, gently tighten the paper on the paper. If the paper is easily sliding, the seal is damaged and is no longer the tightly closed. If the paper does not move, the seal of your door works as it should.
“This takes seconds to test and you can try it throughout the seal to check for weak spots, if you find a place where the air leaks, you will need to replace the seal as soon as possible.”
How much can you save?
The amount of your saving depends on how bad the seal and the efficiency of your device, along with the age of the device. For example, the average freezer can cost between 60 pounds to 150 pounds annually, and the defective seal can add 30 pounds or more or more in addition to these fees.
“If you are trying to reduce your energy bills besides your total consumption, checking the seals is important that you deserve to do, then using one paper can lead to a large saving,” says Robert.
What should you do if the seal fails?
If the paper slides easily, you will usually need to replace the seal, but fortunately, this is clear and direct.
“Before you go to replace the seal, try to give him washing with warm soap water and fabric,” Robert explains. “The besieged dirt between the seal and the door can prevent it from the seal properly. If this does not help examine the seal for cracks.”
