Mayor Eric Adams announced on Sunday that the city will spend $ 1.6 million to put panic buttons in hundreds of Bodgas after a series of last violent delicious incidents.
Adams and members of the United Bodija Association told a press conference on Sunday outside Pamela Green Daily in Bronx, that up to 500 devices will be installed in stores in the crime areas “hot point” throughout the five town in the coming weeks.
The mayor said that the buttons will directly connect to the New York Police Order, which exceeds 911 traditional senders to reduce response times.
“Instead of just making cats keep mice, we will have a direct contact with the police to move away those dangerous cats trying to steal our stores,” Adams told the crowd.
He said that the buttons that receive the buttons, which will be installed by Silent Shield, will not be revealed to the public.
“No one knows who will have a device or not. This adds to the one everywhere and the element of the surprise we are looking for,” Adams told the Post after the noise.
He said: “Bodgas is important, and what this will do is add an additional layer of safety.” “No one, for those who already have panic and direct communication buttons for the police. But secondly, the element of surprise – 500 of these devices throughout the entire city.”
Last month, UBA pressed for additional help after two consecutive deadly skirmishes in Bronx.
A experimental program launched in June by Saferwatch, which has public safety technology, has installed 50 pancakes in Bodgas in high -crime areas.
However, critics argued that the response times were still inconsistent due to poor integration with the police headquarters.
“This mayor has made this safe city in the world, but there are always pockets in which criminals benefit … those pockets, we all know, trains, taxis, and Bodegas – we are the easy goal.”
“For a long time, we were asking the panic button. We got promises from the members of the Council, from members of Congress, from the members of the association and the ruler. Guess what? The killings are still there, stab wounds, shooting, robbery, attempt, and attacks, all still there,” Matteo said.
He said: “The panic buttons are what will save the lives of many, not only the lives of Bodiga and workers' owners, but the lives of many who faced Bodiga are looking for a safe shelter and they were killed.”
Elie Sotoand The 51 -year -old Podiga worker in a delicious Green Pamella said that the panic button is necessary to maintain its safety and customers.
“The neighborhood, there are a lot of crimes … they kill people, and they steal,” Soto told The Post.

“Here, it is a little frightening,” Kadim told The Post.
“Anyone can come there and be a thief. Anyone can go there as a killer, as you don't know.
“We hope to work,” said the panic buttons. “This is the main thing – only time, time and time. I never had personality. [911] Call myself, but I was in situations that involve people who have to call, and it is usually anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes [for cops to arrive]And it is like, anything can happen during that time … because someone can die, you know what I am saying? “
Soto said the New York police response times in the 49th area, where Bodga is dangerously slow in his experience and hopes that panic buttons will help improve emergency response times.
