Fans are calling for revisions to the College Football Playoff format after seeing the latest Top 25 rankings.

The playoff field is almost set, and it's all about the conference championship games.

These matches will determine the results of the first round of the playoffs, and perhaps eliminate some teams from the competition as well.

However, one team is unable to receive a bye this year or any of the upcoming seasons they make the playoffs.

Notre Dame is an independent team, meaning they do not play in any of college football's conferences.

The lack of conference consensus means Notre Dame will never play in a conference championship game, meaning it will never be able to receive a first-round pick.

The top four ranked conference champions will receive a first-round bye while the No. 5 seeded conference champion receives an automatic bid to the playoffs.

The following games have implications for the odds of stopping in the first round:

College football fans are not happy with this ranking, and many argue that Notre Dame should finally join the conference.

“Notre Dame should be forced into a conference now. This isn't 1940 anymore, and their traditions don't matter anymore in this new era,” one fan said.

“Cancel the championship games and start playing 10-11 conference games a year. Notre Dame should also be forced into a conference,” another fan said.

A third fan said: “He's not in a conference. He doesn't deserve a place in the playoffs.”

“Notre Dame shouldn't be allowed in until they're in conference,” a fourth fan said.

Notre Dame has been independent since 1887, so it seems unlikely they would change things now.

While Notre Dame is getting a lot of attention for its CFP controversy, there's also a lot of hype around Alabama's ranking.

Alabama is the only team with three College Football Playoff losses included, ranked ahead of two-loss teams like Miami, Arizona State, Iowa State and BYU.

Alabama is also not playing in their conference championship game, so they are likely locked into a playoff spot that many fans don't think they deserve.

The Crimson Tide have lost three games in their conference, including two terrible games against Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. Both teams finished 6-6.

Their non-conference schedule isn't impressive either, with wins over Western Kentucky, South Florida, Wisconsin, and Mercer.

College football fans are not happy about Alabama's inclusion in the playoffs and are making it known on social media.

“Absolutely ridiculous special treatment,” one fan said.

“It's not based on merit, it's about what ESPN wants in order to maximize the return on investment,” another fan said.

“Anyone who lost to Oklahoma and Vandy should be disqualified,” a third fan said.

“No advantage. Just money,” a fourth fan said.
