Mike McCarthy has been given VIP treatment by an NFL team looking to make him their next coach.
The 61-year-old is out of work after his contract with the Dallas Cowboys expired last week.
McCarthy was unable to agree the length of a new deal with owner Jerry Jones and is now a free agent.
Late last week, he met with the Chicago Bears about their vacancy.
According to WGN9 Chicago, the Bears treated him like a celebrity.
Local media reported that McCarthy was taken on a private plane for a personal interview.
First interviews often take place virtually, but the Bears did their best with McCarthy.
The report added that he stayed in the city all night and wined and dined.
But McCarthy doesn't seem to be attracting a ton of interest from other NFL teams.
The New Orleans Saints are expected to meet him next week.
But ESPN reports that New Orleans has “no urgent interest” in him.
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets also have job openings for head coaches.
But WGN adds that none of them have investigated McCarthy.
So far, the Bears have confirmed they have interviewed 17 candidates to be their next coach.
They include Super Bowl winners like McCarthy and Pete Carroll.
And current NFL coordinators like Brian Flores, Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson.
Former Broadway star-turned-back Eddie George was also interviewed for the job.
Meanwhile, Dallas is also searching for a new coach after the McCarthy era ends.
He has been in charge since 2020 and has overseen three straight 12-5 seasons.
But they finished the year 7-10 and the team is headed in a new direction.
Dallas has already interviewed Robert Saleh and Kellen Moore for the position.
Deion Sanders has also been linked, but insists he is happy with the Colorado Buffaloes.
