It's been nearly three months since Kamala Harris suffered a crushing defeat to Donald Trump when they competed bitterly for the presidency.
President Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Harris as the Democratic nominee in July 2024, but he was defeated in the November election.
What will Kamala Harris do next?
Amid speculation about another White House shot in 2028, Ms. Harris' first step may be to publish a book.
Two people close to the former California attorney general say she has already made the decision to put pen to paper, NBC News reported.
It is not known what the subject of the book is.
“Kamala Harris is poised to land the biggest book deal of any vice president in history,” said Keith Urban, president and co-founder of Javelin Literary Agency.

“But the real question is not progress, but whether the book can redefine it for 2028.”
“There's a version of this book that's full of platitudes but safe, and then there's a version that reinvents it to lead a Democratic Party that needs to rebuild.
“She gets a salary either way, but only the latter gives her a second chance at the presidency.”
Ashley Etienne, Harris' former communications director, said she will collect several copies of the book for “all the women” in her life to read.
“The Vice President is a historic figure with an amazing story to tell, from her leadership to tackling Covid, rebuilding the economy and protecting the rights of women in this nation,” she said.
“People love her – more than 70 million in fact. And I can imagine they are desperate for her to pull back the curtain on her pioneering journey from migrant child to leading the mantle of the most powerful country in the world.”
The VP is already a published author.
The Truths We Hold was released at the same time she launched her first presidential campaign.
It topped the New York Times bestseller list of 2019.
Where will Kamala Harris live now?
After an unsuccessful rerun in Washington, D.C., Ms. Harris now appears set to return to her native California alongside second-in-command Doug Emhoff.
According to CBS News, a source with information about Harris and Emhoff's plans said they were looking for an apartment in Manhattan.
However, the couple owns a house in Brentwood, Los Angeles where they will spend most of their time.
The neighborhood is located near the Pacific Palisades area, which was tragically devastated by wildfires.
On January 17, Mr. Emhoff posted a touching tribute to Ms. Harris on Channel X.
“I never imagined that this kid who grew up in New Jersey would one day be in the White House,” he wrote.
“It has been an incredible honor to be our nation's first Second Gentleman.”
