Walmart shoppers call for retail retail to rethink their security measures.
The reverse reaction comes at a time when Walgrens Boots Alliance has recently admitted that their aggressive security strategies have led to reverse results, which led to a decrease in sales.
With the presence of the daily basics that are now behind situations locked in many stores throughout the United States, shoppers share their frustration.
Walgreen problems
During the Q1 2025 profit call, Walgrens Boots Alliance has the impact of its security efforts on customer satisfaction and revenues.
CEO, Tim Wetter, revealed that despite the company's attempt to reduce theft by unifying the stolen elements, the strategy has proven to be “largely ineffective.”
Walgrens reported a 52 % shrinkage between 2020 and 2021.

In response, the company increased safety by locking more products, assuming that it will deter the theft
Winntere, frankly, acknowledged that locking products away encourages purchases.
He stated, “When things are closed, don't sell much of them.
“We have proven somewhat categorically.”
Walmart, like many of the main retailers, followed a similar approach.
The retail seller began to secure daily necessities such as hygiene tools, barber fossils, and even a $ 1 toothbrush in closed cases.
Social media reaction
Shoppers moved to social media to express their frustration, on the pretext that the inconvenience exceeds the benefits.
In a post on X, a Walmart shopkeeper commented on the “Backreupire” comments, CEO of Walgrens.
The post said. “I hope that Wal Mart stops locking things.
“Electronics? Certainly, get it.”
Follow the post, “Legos? Maybe the expensive groups, but not all.
“A $ 1 toothbrush and underwear/men's socks? … What is the right of hell, guys?”
Although Walgrens admitted that the decision was not the best way, it is too early to know whether Walmart would follow his example.
