Alves, 19, was ranked in Leicester, where he presented five senior matches, including the first Premier League appearance as a substitute against Manchester City in December.
Foxes have imposed Alves's transfer to Wales because they are keen to get more team experience.
Alves, who worked with Cardiff Omer Riza director as part of the England youth group, has become the third Bluebirds signature for the mid -season transport window.
