Ageyaran Kevin Penrose is the guest at The Ga Sowcial PodCast this week on BBC Sounds.
The title “Penrose” will be familiar to Tyrone Football Watches with Kevin Martin's brother after Red Hand County helped win the top of all Ireland in 2005 and 2008.
He grew up in the GAA family, football was the thing that was done and played for the club during his childhood and teenage years.
However, the realization that he was gay after going to university in Liverpool in his early twenties, led to a return to Kevin from the club somewhat, although he was still playing intermittent with ST Davog clothes near Castleederg.
He recalls, “Everything was from the changing room culture and the boy's culture. There are words that have been put up there,”
Kevin took several other years to go out to his family and friends, and he was a long time in Southeast Asia in 2022 when he was 28 years old, and finally broke the news to his mother during a phone call at home.
AGHYARAN Citizen drew a picture during the BBC mental pain, which he passed for five days during a long period in the Thai city of Fukete weighing whether he would tell his family and friends about his sexual life.
“I felt that the travel was joining me and reaches exhaustion in a way,” Kevin recalls.
“I was in a dark room in a hotel. The motivation went to travel and I was like,” I can't do it really. “Maybe I was in the room for five days in a row.
“I needed to ring the house and I needed to tell people and when I had a phone call on Thursday or Friday with my mother, it was just an instant weight.”
