The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has issued the Usyk instructions, the current heavyweight hero, to negotiate a mandatory defense of the title against Joseph Parker, the temporary WBO title holder.
Both fighters have a 30 -day window to reach an agreement; If they cannot, WBO will start wallet display procedures to settle the financial details of the battle.
Usyk, which is proud of an unbeatable record (with 14 KOS), has recently strengthened his heavyweight and successive victories over Tyson Fury, including a winning unanimity victory last December. These victories have proven it as one of the most difficult competitors in boxing today.
Joseph Parker, with a record of 36-3 (24 KOS), received his temporary title last month with a strong judge in the second round of Martin Bacol in Riyadh. Parker, former WBO champion from 2016 to 2018, now has an opportunity to restore the title he lost seven years before Anthony Joshua.
WBO's request was delivered through an email from the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Luis Batista Salas, to the representatives of both fighters – Alex Krasyuk for USYK and Frank Warren for Parker. Email emphasized the importance of treating this mandatory championship condition and noted that if it is not solved, the temporary Parker title will be in danger.
