The Federal Aviation Administration said that the US Airways flight is 1006 from Colorado Springs on the Boeing 737-800 plane landed in Denver at approximately 5.15 pm local time (11.15 pm GMT), and it turns from its planned destination in Dallas after the crew reported the vibrations of the engine.
Several dramatic videos were published for travelers standing on the plane's wing before smoke with smoke on social media.
The airline said in a statement, “After landing safely and taxi to the gate at Denver International Airport (DEN), US Airways flight has witnessed 1006 -related cases,” the airline said in a statement.
The airline added: “The 172 clients and six crew have exhausted and they were transferred to the station. We thank our crew members, the Denver team and the first respondents for their fast and decisive work with everyone's safety on the plane and on the ground as a priority.”
The Federal Aviation Administration said it would investigate the accident.
Boeing refused to comment, and to sign inquiries to US Airlines and investigators.
The engine fire is the latest in a series of prominent airline accidents that raised questions about the safety of American aviation, including the collision of January 29 from an American airline and an army helicopter who killed 67 people.
