This prosperous Southeast Asian holiday destination has announced a plan to exempt current tourists for 60 days for foreign tourists for foreign tourists.
One of the most inspected travel destinations in 2025 just announced plans to clarify its time dedicated to visas -free tourist residences.
The allowance is expected to reduce 60 days to 30 days. This step is a direct effort to address the increasing number of foreign tourists who take advantage of the country's waiver period to implement illegal business activities.
Since July 2024, Thailand has allowed passports from more than 90 countries to stay for up to 60 days for tourism purposes. Recently, the country's Minister of Tourism and Sports, Sorawong Thinkong, has announced a plan to reduce this half -exemption period. According to Thienthong, the case has been discussed between the stakeholders concerned over the past few weeks, but there are still additional details that must be confirmed before any official announcement.
Tourism societies and local operators express their concern about the extended tourism allocations, as tourists who are characterized by long distances for a period of only 14 and 21 days remain. The Thai Travel Agents Association advised the ministry that there are an increasing number of foreigners who work illegally or doing commercial business in the country during tourism exemption.
The Thai Hotels Association also advised the ministry that the 60 -day exemption period pushes the rental of the illegal apartment to foreigners. According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Natthriya Thawevong, a special joint operation, including the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourism Police, has been regularly investigated in illegal activities in Foucape and five other famous tourist areas.
Once again, the update of the regulations has not yet been official, and the transitional exemptions and measures of the travelers who have already seized their flights were expected. However, it still has a significant impact on tourism in Thailand.
We have not yet seen whether this advertisement will face the “white lotus effect” that the country offers over the past year. Travel interests in Thailand were strongly associated with the launch of the latest chain of white lotus and destinations such as Foucaite, Bangkok and Koh Samawi suffering from huge waves from incoming tourists.
The 60 -day visa -free regulations in Thailand are part of the reason that it has become a popular destination for digital nomad and foreign retirees. Tourism has also become a pillar of Thailand's economy, and the country has worked hard to make itself attractive to foreign tourists.
In fact, Thailand has been conscious of its visa -free exemption for 60 days to 66 additional countries in 2024 in an attempt to enhance tourism. As of December 2024, Thailand has recorded revenues of about 1.6 trillion Thailal -pale (about 36 billion pounds).
According to a report issued by Reboot Online, there were 41,664 Google research in January 2025 alone for trips to Thailand. The report indicates a 27 % increase in flight interest compared to January 2024.
Under the current regulations, visitors from any of 93 approved to survive for tourism and short -term participants are allowed for a period not exceeding 60 days. This period can be extended in the immigration office for another period of no more than 30 days.
