Heathrow Airport is closed throughout the day due to the “power outage” after a fire was cut off at a nearby power station.
The airport, the most crowded in Europe, will remain closed until 11.59 pm on Friday – causing travel chaos and leaving thousands of ways.

About 120 flights should be transferred to alternative airports or return to their original destinations, according to Flightradar24.
It comes as thousands of homes are also without power after the fire erupted at a sub -station in Hayes, west of London, shortly after 11 pm on Thursday.
A spokesman for Heathrow said: “Heathrow suffers from a significant power of energy throughout the airport due to a major fire at a nearby power station,” Haitro spokesman said.
“While fire sets respond to the accident, we have no clarity when the power is reliably restored.
“To maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues, we have no choice but to close Heathrow until 11.59 pm on March 21.”
“We expect a great disturbance in the coming days, and the passengers should not travel to the airport under any circumstances until the airport is reopened.”
“The passengers are advised not to travel to the airport and they must contact their airlines for more information. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Transformations include one trip from London to Bangkok, which arrived in Brussels before having to return to Heathrow.
Flights from Johannesburg and Birth to the capital are also forced to land at Gatwick Airport.
Pictures and videos taken from the airport in the early hours of the morning areas of the site in the dark due to energy loss.
This comes as about 150 people were evacuated from the surrounding properties and a 200 -meter collar was placed in place as a preventive measure.
The electrical sub -station is located and a half of the airport.
“This is a very clear and important accident, and our firefighters are working tirelessly in difficult circumstances to control the fire as soon as possible,” said Batbat Gulporen, Assistant Commissioner for Fire Excellence in London.
“The fire caused the power outage, which affects a large number of local homes and companies, and we are working closely with our partners to reduce the turmoil.
“Firefighters have led 29 people to safety from neighboring real estate, and as precautions, a 200 -meter collar was created, with about 150 people evacuated.”
He added: “This will be a long accident, while the crews remain in the scene over the night.
“While we go to the morning, the turmoil is expected to increase, and we urge people to avoid the area whenever possible.”
The population was also warned of the large -scale power outage in the region.
“We are aware of the extensive reduction of energy, which affects many of our customers about Houselow and the surrounding areas,” said Scottish and southern electricity networks said in a post on X.
“We can restore energy by 3 am.”
The London Fire Fire brigade said it had received 190 calls regarding the fire.
The crews were mobilized from the surrounding areas, Heathrow, Helingdon, Soutal and the surrounding fire stations to the scene.
A spokesman said: “Ten fire engines and about 70 firefighters are treating fire at a sub -power station on Nestelus Street in Hayes,” a spokesman said.
“Part of the vibrant sub -station. About 20 people have been evacuated from the neighboring properties and a 100 -meter collar was placed as a preventive measure.
“The brigade's monitoring officers received nearly 200 calls to the fire. The first call was received at 11.23 pm, and the crews were mobilized from Hayes, Heathrow, Helingdon, Soutal and the firefighting stations around the place.
“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”
The paramedics are at the scene and urged residents to close their windows.
“We are currently supporting the emergency services colleagues at a fireplace in Hayes,” said a spokesman for the London ambulance.
“Please try and avoid the area, and if you live in a place nearly, then stay inside and keep the windows closed.”
