Referees in the Bristol Downs League are not always amateurs.
When Richard Morris does not run the line in the first or second league match, he returns to the place where he started to provide his services.
“It is an opportunity for me to meet old friends and remember how I came through the system and where I came from,” he said.
“It is really important to remember who supported you so that you can support the next generation.”
A week ago, he was taking the position of the match in Portsmouth against Shallitham Town, before joining 20-30 referees That collects every Saturday to take over.
Morris added: “When you walk in the referendum wearing room, there is a feeling of society there,” Morris added.
“Many players have been getting out of referees to land for years and years, and they are really like the family.”
A wonderful collection of rulers in Bristol is Bill Bomberov. Now 86 years old, he has prepared matches in the first first section in clubs including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur and in the European Cup.
Today is the referees advisor in the Downs League, and helps in training new officials in the league.
The referee Nick Badel said: “It will give you a lot of information, and it will take you for the first week, or to see you or send an email to Monday, small indicators about where you should go.”
“He will leave you for two to three weeks, then he will go to watch you again to see if you have taken that information that you think you should work on.”
