Care Starmer said: “The British people are bored of the vision of politicians who are not targets to drill without any real plan to reform them. It ends with us.
Keir Starmer has warned councils that must show progress in the excavation repair – or face the Road Cash loss.
From next month, the local authorities will start obtaining their share of 1.6 billion pounds in financing highways maintenance. This will include 500 million pounds, which the Ministry of Transport (DFT) will be sufficient to fill seven million pits annually.
But the administration said in order to obtain the full amount, all councils in England must publish annual reports on their websites. This should include the number of drilling that you occupied and the state of roads.
DFT added: “The local authorities who fail to meet these strict conditions will witness 25 % of the rise (125 million pounds in total).
Mr. Starmer said: “The broken roads that we inherited not only risk life, but also cost the families of the worker, drivers and companies hundreds – if not thousands of pounds – in complex repairs that can be avoided.”
The Prime Minister added: “The British people are bored of the vision of politicians who are not goal to dig without any real plan to reform them. This ends with us.
“After years of negligence, we are dealing with drilling plague, and we build vital ways and ensure each penny progress is the results of taxpayers. The public deserves to know how their councils improved on local roads, which is why they must show progress or risk with a loss of 25 % of its financing of 500 million pounds.”
The local government association said that the cost of accumulating local roads is approximately 17 billion pounds. “The councils are already spending more than the central government on treating drilling and fixing our roads. However, it is in the interest of everyone to spend public funds well,” said LGA.
“This includes the government, which plays its full role by using spending review to ensure councils obtain adequate and long -term financing, so that they can focus their efforts on more cost -effective preventive measures instead of repairing the most expensive drilling.”
