The National Women's Football Association is investigating an accident that involves a “hateful language” directed at the Orlando Barid Barbara Panda by a fan.
The accident occurred during the 2-0 victory over Gotham FC on Sunday at the SPORTS ILLUSTRAC Stadium Stadium in New York.
Gotham said they apologized to Orlando and that they were working with NWSL to investigate the accident.
“This behavior is unacceptable and has no place in our league or in our stadiums,” said NWSL, Orlando PRIDE and Gotham FC in a statement on Monday.
“The security of the stadium quickly responded to the accident by simply reporting it and dealing with it directly to the individual, and monitored the situation for the rest of the match.”
Panda won the BBC football player in 2024 after scoring 17 goals to help Orlando to claim the first NWSL championship last season.
