Starting April 24, AT & T users will not see a $ 10 opponent of their bill to use Autopay.
The company also gives up a $ 5 discount for customers who subscribed to bills without paper.
Customers who use Autopay with a debit card will remain $ 5 of their monthly bill.
Verge reported that anyone with Citi's AT&T Plus Card will also get a $ 5 discount.
Customers who use Autopay and have a bank account linked to obtaining a $ 10 discount.
Anyone who wants to avoid a higher invoice will need to think about adjusting their payment method before the change applies.
This step is in line with industry trends, and competitors such as T-Mobile and Verizon have already reduced similar privileges.
Verizon has seen Autopay discounts for a broader group of customers last year.
T-Mobile also cut the Autopay incentives, but unlike AT & T, the company was not aggressive with discounts.
But AT & T customers are not happy.
“AT & T shakes things with their discounts. It's time to shop for better deals!” A customer wrote on X, Twitter previously.
Another person wrote, “So, after a large profitable year, reduce pre -payment discount in half.
“If you cannot see trends, it's because you don't want it.”
This change may be driven by credit card processing fees, which can range from 1.5 % to 3.5 % and is usually covered by sellers.
For example, if you pay $ 70 a month for your phone plan, your transport company may face up to $ 30 annually in processing fees.
The update is also seen as an attempt to promote the AT & T credit card program.
The decision comes at a time when the wireless industry faces increasing pressure to tighten the margins and remain competitive.
Last August, AT & T distributed prices to at least 10 unlimited plans, which raised monthly fees at $ 10 to $ 20.
AT & T Slashes Discounts
AT & T reduces autopay and laperless discounts for bills, which affects many customers starting from April 24. Here is what you need to know:
- AT & T will cut autopay and Paperless discounts in half.
- Discount card users will receive a discount of $ 5, a decrease of $ 10.
- The discount is removed for $ 5 for credit card payments unless the Citi AT&T card is used.
- Banking account users will continue to obtain a $ 10 discount.
- The company insists that the change is in line with industry trends, as competitors such as Verizon and T-Mobile made similar discounts.
Customers who have multiple lines have witnessed a maximum increase of $ 20 per month.
This step affected those who exist on old plans that have not been presented to new customers, forcing many to push more or turn into a different plan.
At & T at the time, the increase was necessary to keep pace with the increasing costs.
At & T did not immediately respond to a request for comment by the United States.
