A man surrendered to the Belgian police after throwing a bottle of water on the face of Matteo van der Boyle during the Paris Robex race on Sunday.
The Dutchman was hit while driving with 23 miles to go while he was racing along a tight -paced pathway lining up with the spectators.
The man surrendered to the West Flanders police station on Monday.
Van der Boyle, who continued to win the race for a third consecutive interest in a row, described it later as “getting a stone”.
“The bottle was almost full and weighing half a kilo, and when someone threw it as if it is not something,” he spoke.
“We can confirm that the man presented himself to the police,” Public Prosecutor Philip Judits told BBC Sport on Monday.
“An official report has been developed, where its statement has been registered. The public prosecutor will be decided in the coming days, what are the measures that must be taken.”
Van der Boyle ignored the accident to win the memorial – one of the five major sports races for one day – with more than a minute of his great opponent Tedig Pujakar, the ruling Tor de France champion.
The 30 -year -old Dutch player, who has now achieved eight wins, such as Pogacar, has participated in many incidents that include spectators in recent years.
In December 2023, some spectators spit during the Cyclocross race in the Netherlands, saying he had enough beating and losing a liquid.
The following April, a beer was thrown at it during the Flanders tour, while in March this year he spit during E3 Saxo Classic in Belgium.
“You must do something about it,” he added. “People spit and throw things, it's too much and I will ask to take action.”
The Paris Robax Road extends across northern France and is estimated to attract about 500,000 spectators to see it on the side of the road.
The length of this year was 259.2 km (161 miles), with about five of them on the roads and paths packed with gravel.
