California Governor Gavin New Zere said he had started a lawsuit against the Donald Trump administration challenging the president's authority to impose definitions.
Throughout the podcast that he published today, newsom said that the lawsuit will confirm, “Trump does not have a unilateral authority to impose one of the largest tax increases in history. The effects of these definitions are unparalleled here in California, the number one manufacturing state in America.”
A state lawsuit will challenge the Trump law of the International Emergency Forces Law to impose definitions, on the pretext that the constitution gives this authority to Congress.
Trump imposed 10 % of the basic tariff around the world, 145 % tariffs on Chinese imports. This led to a commercial war with Beijing, which responded with a series of measures. This includes the decline in the number of American films permissible in the country every year.
Mexico, Canada and China were the best export markets in the state in 2023, according to the US Department of Trade. China was the highest import market.
Newsom plans at a press conference this morning.
The ruler generally kept less clothes when it comes to Trump's challenge in his first months in his post, as newsoms sought to help the federal government recover from destroyed forest fires. In his first weeks in office, Trump visited the state to survey the destruction, and received him at the airport when it seemed a genetic conversation. It is expected that the relief allocations in additional federal emergencies will need the approval of Congress, given the scale of destruction in Palisades and Altadena.
Trump has not yet responded to the case.
