Foreigners may be lying on the surrounding planet far away in the discovery of “amazing”, as the British scientists told the Sun.
Vearist astronomers of foreign hunting at a university Cambridge Suppose they are now 99.7 % confident that they have discovered the best sign of biological activity at all-and they say that the planet may be “full of life”.

It occurs in a distant foreign world called K2-18B, and it is 120 Lightyears about 2.5X the size of the Earth.
Astronomers have chosen a molecule called DMS in the planet's atmosphere. On the ground, it is produced by small algae that lives in our seas. These “vegetable plankton” are microscopic and cannot be seen with the human eye – but in large numbers, they appear as colored spots on the water.
Similar strange life devices may be created on K2-18B.
“There is no mechanism in the literature that can explain what we see without life,” said Professor Professor Niko Madosodhan.
“It is a question that humanity is asking for thousands of years. It is a shock to the regime. It takes time to recover from the huge.”
Wipe
Astronomers used data from the James Web telescope, which was launched on Christmas Day in 2021.
They have monitored fingerprints of two molecules: dyathyl sulfide (dMS) and/or dillefolid dyds in the planet's atmosphere.
It is only produced by life on Earth, usually microbes.
The results are so convincing that there is only “a possibility of 0.3 % that occurred by chance”.
Everything happens in the alleged world of Hessian, which writes a water environment and a thick hydrogen atmosphere.
Hycean comes from combining “hydrogen” and “ocean” together.
“If he is already a Hessian scientist, the planet will be covered in the oceans,” Professor Madosodhan told The Sun.
“We currently do not know what the temperature of those oceans.
“But we expect it to be a little warmer than the ground.

“On Earth, the extremist was known to survive at very high temperatures, so that it is not in itself a problem.”
Watch it pass!
We cannot see K2-18B directly because of its proximity to the host star.
Therefore, scientists have to use genius technology to unify what is going on there.
They watch the star revolving around the K2-18B, and wait for the planet to pass through its face.
By analyzing the star light during this “crossing”, JWST can capture the decrease in the brightness of the star.
A small part of the light of the stars passes through the planet's atmosphere.
The absorption of this light of stars in the planet's atmosphere leaves “fingerprints” that astronomers can use to identify existing gases.
Not only did the DMS in the Madhusudhan team – which is a vital cosmetic – in the air, they found it in huge quantities.
What is the world of Hycean? K2-18B story to date

This is what you need to know …
The world of Hycean is a type of external planet – or a planet outside our solar system.
Specifically, it is a planet that contains liquid water and an atmosphere rich in hydrogen.
This is where the name comes: Hycean is “hydrogen” and “ocean” combined.
It was formulated as a term in 2021 by astronomers at Cambridge University.
Scientists believe they are a higher position to search for a strange life.
They expect life to be in Hycean water worlds – this means that there are no earthly mammals like here on Earth.
One of the best candidates for life is K2-18B, because it seems to have a Hycean and Biosignatures atmosphere, or signs of life.
The planet is 120 Lightyears away from Earth, revolving around the red dwarf at the beginning of K2-18.
It is about 2.6 times larger than Earth and has a 33 -day orbit.
K2-18B gets the same amount of sunlight from its star and the Earth receives from the sun.
It was first discovered in 2015, and water vapor was found in the air in 2019.
Then in 2023, the James Web telescope picked up carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere.
Scientists later predicted that we may find potential vital signals associated with life in the aqueous environment that they believe is on this planet.
In April 2025, scientists finally managed to say with 99.7 % on certainty of a vital presence: a type of molecule called DMS, which is produced by sea plant plankton here on Earth.
It may mean that similar life forms are on K2-18B as well.

DMS and DMDS are usually found in the Earth's atmosphere at about one part of per billions.
But in K2-18B, levels are thousands of times higher-more than 10 parts per million.
“Theoretical work expected earlier that high levels of sulfur -based gases such as DMS and DMDS are possible in Hycean's worlds,” Professor Cambridge explained.
Now we have noticed that, in line with what has been predicted.

“Given everything we know about this planet, the world of Hycean with a skilled ocean is the scenario that suits our best data.”
He added: “This was one of the most basic questions that we have requested of its kind for thousands of years.”
“Everyone agrees that at some point in their lives, they were looking at the night sky and asking: Are we alone?”
Final guide
But there is still more work to do.
The level of certainty is currently three columns, it is 99.7 %.
Madhusudhan wants to get more analysis time to reach the desired Sigma, which means that there is a possibility of 0.00006 % only the results occurred by chance.
“The observation was about eight hours of time,” Madosodhan.
He said they would need two or three confirmed phrases, which range from 16 to 24 hours.
“We have to formally apply for JWST time and there will be a selection process,” Madosodhan said, speaking to The Sun.
And if they are convinced of the case, they will be accepted and then the notes are made.
You are facing one of the largest landmarks in the history of science.
Professor Niko Madosodhan
“But these notes are not trivial. They do not happen frequently, especially with JWST.
“There are only about four windows of observation every year. So if these notes are approved, this will likely happen to the next year.”
The cause of DMS can also be non -biological, but Madhusudhan says there is no known mechanism for this now.
Great discovery
The British Indian professor-known for the formulation of the term “Hycean”-described it as a “amazing” discovery.

“You are facing one of the biggest landmarks in date to sciencesMadosodhan told Al -Shams newspaper.
“It is not my intention to make it look great, but there is no other way to put it.
“What is the importance of this result? Think of us as a civilization, as a society, our development as a society. You will see that there is.
“If it ends until this is true, we cannot hide this fact. We can deny it, but it will return.”
He added: “The big question is that if we are, as a type, ready to find life as we do not know it.”
The research was published in the letters of the physical magazine.
External planets – explanation!

This is what you need to know …
- External planets are a planet located outside our solar system, which revolves around its own star, where the Earth rotates
- It is difficult to see it with telescopes because it is often hidden due to the brightness of their star
- NASA has sent Kepler to orbit with the goal of finding a planet outside the Earth's planets that may support life
- More than 5,500 of the outer planets have been discovered so far, and more tasks have been planned to find more outer planets
- There is a good way to discover external planets is the search for “volatile” stars because the disruption of stars can indicate that the planet revolves around it and prevents its light intermittently
- Expopoplanets is very common in the universe, and the more we find the more like the Earth, the closer we know whether the Earth is the only planet that carries life
