The Vatican announced early on Tuesday that the funeral of Pope Francis will be held on Saturday morning in Saint Peter Square.
The general viewing of Francis, 88, who died unexpectedly on Monday after being stroke and heart attack, will start once on Wednesday morning in the Church of St. Peter.
The funeral will be on Saturday at 10 am local time in Saint Peter Square.
Francis, known for engaging with traditionalists, also paved some traditions in his burial plans, and chose to be entered into the simple wooden coffin in St. Mary Megor Bazilica, outside the Vatican.
