Britain Cameron Nuri described his victory in the first round of the Madrid Open as one of his favorite victories in his career after he defeated Martin Lanalos.
The former British Nuri defeated the 19-year-old Spanish (4-7) 7-5 6-4 to get the first main ATP victory since the beginning of March.
The poor model witnessed that Nuri, 29, decreased to 91 in the world, and for a period of time on Thursday, his struggles seemed continuous.
After losing five consecutive games from 3-0 in the opening group, Nuri resisted from 3-0 to bottom before providing a match point and winning the second.
The third British number used his experience to see victory after Landaluce produced a 4-4 wild game in the decisive group.
Nuri later explained that he was struggling with the disease, saying on Sky Sports: “It is a terrible timing but at least I have another day to rest. I hope he would go very quickly.
“Perhaps it was one of my favorite wins. I was very terrifying, I was not sure that I was playing, I had no energy, and I never slept last night.
“I started very low energy, and slept on the field, I had to create my own energy. I really played well, and I know he is a really good player, so I had to fight at every point.”
Nuri will face the twenty -sixth seed Jerry Lika of the Czech Republic in the second round.
