A large Russian military general was killed on Friday in a fire car explosion in Moscow.
Yarroslav Muscalik, deputy head of the main operations of the Russian Armed Forces, died when the car exploded in the town of Balikha, the Russian media reported.
The law enforcement sources said the bomb was planted in a parked car and was detonated from a distance while the officer – who lived locally – was walking in the past.
The shots of a vehicle fully mired in fire near a residential building were taken just moments after the explosion.
The authorities have not officially confirmed any details of the incident, which came a day after Russia launched its bloody attack on Ukraine for nearly a year.
It was also not immediately clear whether the officer was targeted.
In the past, Ukraine has claimed responsibility for targeting Russian military officers at home.
Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, chief head of Nuclear weapons for Karmlin, was removed in a car last December.
Ukraine later admitted its role in this killing, saying that Krilov was aimed at allegedly organizing the use of chemical weapons against the Ukrainian forces.
The latest car bombing comes after President Trump criticized his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, for the bombing of Ukraine, challenging attempts to mediate peace.
“I am not happy with Russian strikes on Kiev,” Trump rushed to a social position. “It is not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, stop! 5000 soldiers per week die. Let's accomplish the peace deal!”
