A man who witnessed the shooting described the accident as a “shock” when one individual began to launch a weapon, which led to the unloading of a police officer at the scene
A man was killed, and at least eleven people were injured during a shooting gunfire in a famous tourist destination.
On Saturday, April 26, police officers in the area witnessed a quarrel between many people. Police said that a person fired a weapon during the fighting, and one of the officers at the scene “responded by emptying their firearms.”
The accident occurred at approximately 11:50 pm local time near the 900 block from North Ocean Street in Mertel Beach, South Carolina.
The police said that the person who was called an officer died of his wounds. Eleven people reported his injury and are currently receiving a medical treatment. The police confirmed that the officer who brought their weapons was not injured.

Michael Howard, who witnessed the shooting, described the accident as a “shock” of WPDE local outlets, and remembered the vision of people near him falling on the ground after shooting.
He said: “I remember hearing the shooting clips just start going out everywhere. I remember that I saw a fell girl. I remember that I saw the man who was shot on the floor. I saw blood everywhere. It was just a very shock.”
The MBPD Police Administration and the South Carolina Law Department urged the audience to share any information or videos captured with the police to help its investigations.
“On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at approximately 11:50 pm, officers in the Myrtle Beach police department observed a disorder related to multiple individuals in the 900 block from Ocean Boulevard Street.
During the quarrel, one individual began to launch a weapon. At that time, based on the immediate threat, one of our officers responded by emptying their fiery weapons. The relevant officer was not injured.
“The Mertel Beach Police Administration offers its prayers and deepest sympathy for both those affected by this incident. I read: “11 individuals have been identified as suffering from sustainable injuries during this accident and they received a medical treatment.
