SNOKER Administration will review the policy of transforming transgender people in the wake of the United Kingdom's Supreme Court ruling that the legal definition of women depends on biological sex under the Equality Law.
“It was always that its policy would be subject to immediate review in the event of a change in circumstances.”
Currently transient women can compete in the events of women's Sunwisher, provided that testosterone levels are less than a certain level for 12 months before competition.
Judges at the highest court in the country decided last week that “the concept of sex is bilateral” and that the person who holds the certificate of gender recognition (GRC) in the gender of females “does not enter into the definition of women.”
“This is a complex issue because WPBSA is a global body and must guarantee that it is compatible with equality legislation all over the world as well as in the United Kingdom,” said WPBSA.
The sexual transformed women were banned last week of the female category of the final pool group (UPG) in response to the ruling of the Supreme Court.
London Marathon organizers will wait for reports from the England Human Rights and Sports Committee before making any decisions regarding the classification of transgender contestants.
