Kesenia Karelina, a ballet dancer who has a dual nationality of the United States of Russia, lost her old life after being imprisoned for more than a year in Russia.
She was reunited with her fiancé, boxer Chris Van Herden, in an emotional moment after President Donald Trump released it during the prisoner's swap last month.

Carlina was arrested from Los Angeles in the Russian city of Yakatrinburg – 21 hours drive East Moscow – in January 2024 during her visit to the family.
I pledged guilty after donating about $ 51 to a charity supporting Ukraine.
Carlina, 33, was supposed to serve 12 years in a Russian prison, but after 15 months of closure, she escaped with the help of the White House.
On April 10, Carlina was collected with Van Herden after the Trump administration exchanged it with Arthur Petrov.

Petrov is a dual German citizen who was arrested in 2023, allegedly exporting sensitive accurate electronics.
Van Herden was among the first Carlina's embrace when she landed in Washington, DC
