Visual artist and Poem by Suzanne Caesar Director Madeleine Hunt Ehrlich is among the names chosen for the talent show at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
This morning, the festival announced the talent lineup, along with eight debut titles added to the Berlinale Classics lineup and the ten books headed to the festival's adapted co-production market.
Berlinale Talent will take place from February 15 to 20. 201 filmmakers will participate in the talent show and this year's theme will be “Listen Bravely: Cinematic Narratives in Times of Dissonance.” Hunt-Ehrlich returns to the Berlinale after debuting her work in 2023 plot in The forum has been expanded. Her work has been shown at institutions around the world including the Tate Modern and the Whitney Museum of Art. Her first appearance is in 2023 Suzanne Caesar's poem, Starring Zita Hanrot, it opened a feature-length run at last year's Rotterdam Film Festival and was later picked up by the Cinema Guild, which committed to releasing the film in theaters with a unique 35mm print run across the United States.
Other names slated for talent include Luis De Filippis, Atena Eshtiaghi, Claire Weiskopf, Maria Silvia Esteve, Odette Dosija, and Sene Özbilj.
elsewhere, Paradine caseAlfred Hitchcock's 1947 courtroom drama is one of the major titles added to the Berlinale Classics lineup. The film stars Gregory Peck, and the 4K digital restoration will be screened in Berlin by Walt Disney Studios and the Martin Scorsese Film Foundation. The restored version has a running time of 114 minutes. Also on view at Classics is the Warner Bros. restoration. At the Berlinale Co-production Market, ten novels that can be adapted into films for industry will be screened. This year, genre books are well represented with titles like Asian Folk Horror dog (ero) by Angelo R. Lacuesta and feminist gothic comedy Mediterranean Gothic By Marina Pieri Heading to the market.
The full Berlinale lineup will be announced on January 21. The festival continues from February 13 to 23.
