As Uptown Records' new king of jack swing, “Nite and Day” singer Al B. Absolutely! I watched Sean “Puffy” Combs go from intern at the label in 1990 to A&R exec behind hits like Mary J. Blige and Jodeci.
It also saw the man who would become known as Diddy set his sights on Uptown Records receptionist Kim Porter, having already had a son, Quincy, with the R&B singer.
“He walked into the studio, looked up and saw this really beautiful girl, and she was holding a really beautiful baby, and he said, 'Man, I wish I had a beautiful girl like that,'” Al recalls. for. Sure!, 56, in the new documentary “Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy,” which premieres Tuesday on Peacock.
And what Diddy wanted, Diddy got: he and Porter would go on to have a long-term relationship, which Al B is sure to do! He breaks his silence on some explosive allegations in the doc, which arrives as the jailed hip-hop mogul awaits trial in May on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
“Al. B. Absolutely! He's someone who has a very complicated relationship with this story, and a very personal relationship with this story,” executive producer Ari Mark told The Post exclusively. “He has a lot to say, and I think he's working through his feelings about how he wants to say it With it, and whoever wants to say it to him.”
And so he drops some bombs in “Making of a Bad Boy.” Al B for sure! — who was born Albert Brown III — claims Porter feared for his life during her relationship with Diddy when the couple began raising Quincy together before having three of their own children.
“Don't interfere,” Kimberly said. “You will be killed,” he claims.
“Let's just say, you should listen to Kimberly. Because not only was she trying to save me, she was putting her own life in danger.”
Al B for sure! He explains why he was not there to raise Quincy – despite his insistence that Combs never adopted him as his son.

However, the singer reveals that he kept in secret contact with Porter during their on-off relationship from 1994 to 2007.
“After Sean started seeing Kimberly, Kimberly and I remained friends,” he says. “She started to trust me. What she said was, 'Something's not right.' His soul went completely dark like he wasn't there. She made me promise about a certain life of Quincy Taylor Brown never to reveal it because she was absolutely afraid of mine.” .
Meanwhile, there have been whispers of Diddy abusing the model, although there has been no evidence of domestic violence.
“One time I was called by phone to rush to St Luke's Hospital [in Manhattan],” recalls Diddy's former bodyguard Gene Dale in “The Making of a Bad Boy.”
“She looked like she had bruises and things like that, but she wasn't saying much of anything.”
When Porter was found dead in her home on November 15, 2018, at the age of 47, an autopsy report determined the cause of death was lobar pneumonia.

In fact, the singer had just seen Porter “looking great” at a screening of Quincy's Christmas movie “The Holiday Calendar.”
“That was two or three weeks before she was killed,” he says. “Am I supposed to say 'allegedly'?”
The Los Angeles Police Department found no suspicion of foul play in Porter's death, but Al B certainly did! He raises suspicions when he reveals that she kept a diary.
“Someone got the passcode to her phone and computer and discovered she was writing about what was going on behind closed doors,” he claims. “The public had no idea what was happening before everyone’s eyes. But there were a lot of people who turned a blind eye.”
But after Porter's alleged memoir – “Kim's Lost Words: A Journey for Justice, from the Other Side…” – was published last year including allegations of her abuse, it was denounced as “simply untrue” by her children and “fake”. By her children. Combs' lawyer, which led to it being pulled from Amazon.
Al B for sure! He also suffered from his health crisis in July 2022, when he collapsed in the studio and suffered from multiple illnesses and organ failure while he was hospitalized. He was eventually placed in a medically induced coma and placed on a ventilator for 38 days.
Once again, there were conspiracy theories about Diddy's involvement in the incident, although there was absolutely no evidence. But Al B definitely! He kept a record of the people he claims were sent to kill him while he was hospitalized.
“In hindsight, I'm glad things went the way they did, because this journey prepared me for another level,” he says. “I made the decision to do the best I could with regard to opening the case surrounding the miraculous death of Kim Porter.
Mark added to the post: “God knows what she's been through…but I think being able to speak to her kind of bravery and trying to protect Al B. certainly! “From his perspective, I thought it was really interesting.”
Diddy's lawyers responded to the accusations in the doc: “Sean Combs unequivocally denies the baseless allegations that have been circulated in connection with this documentary.”
“We were really careful to make sure that we weren't necessarily saying that these things happened, or that these things are necessarily true,” Mark noted.
But he added: “Something wasn't right. I felt like there was more to the story.”
