Netflix Making ‘Black Hawk Down’ Documentary

Netflix has greenlit a doc series based on black Hawk Down, Ridley Scott's 2001 film was a huge hit.

Surviving the fall of Black Hawk It comes from Scott's RSA Films and will tell the true story of the horror and heroism behind the events that inspired his film. It will blend raw, immersive storytelling with personal interviews from both sides of the Mogadishu battle.

Black Hawk Down Released in 2001, it won two Oscars.

The film stars Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor and Eric Bana, and follows the United States sending special forces into Somalia to destabilize the government and provide food and humanitarian aid to a starving population. The group used Black Hawk helicopters to land soldiers on the ground.

The Netflix doc series will launch on February 10 and is the latest in the premium doc space. It will be broadcast across three parts.

Producers are on Surviving the fall of Black Hawk Jamal Othman, Emma Sable. The EPs are Dominic Crossley-Holland and Tom Pearson. The director is Jack McInnes.
