Manchester City is interested in signing Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiasso.
But City sources say the talks are not as advanced as reports in Italy indicate and there is no guarantee the transfer will be completed this month.
However, Pep Guardiola is keen to bring in a traditional left-back, something that has not happened at City since Benjamin Mendy, who was suspended and then released following serious sexual allegations against him. The Frenchman was acquitted in 2023.
The 24-year-old Cambiasso joined Juventus from Genoa in 2022, where he rose through the youth ranks.
The Italy international, who also played as a right-back, spent a season on loan at Bologna before becoming a regular in Juventus' first team. Last summer, he appeared as a substitute in three of the four matches the national team played in the Euro 2024 Championship.
Cambiasso participated in 25 matches in all competitions with Juventus this season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
He missed his team's 2-0 win over City in the Champions League last December due to an ankle injury.

The Premier League champions are yet to confirm the signing of Uzbek defender Abdulkadir Khosanov although they have agreed a €40m (£33.6m) fee with Lens for the 20-year-old.
City also continues its discussions with German club Eintracht Frankfurt regarding its striker Omar Marmoush.
However, Frankfurt officials insist there is no agreement for the 25-year-old Egyptian striker, and the Bundesliga side are planning to feature him in Friday's match with Borussia Dortmund.
