Russell Wilson has made a heartbreaking announcement following the death of his beloved dog.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback shared the tragic news on social media.
Wilson, 36, earned the Great Dane more than a decade ago as a rookie.
The dog was a trooper as he beat cancer on two different occasions and reached the age of twelve.
However, Wilson announced that Pence had died Thursday evening in an emotional blog post.
“12 years ago you came into my life,” he wrote.
“You had a New Year's Eve and you were a blessing to our family with so many memories, hugs and kisses from our four children and from us.
“You will be a part of us forever. Today was a difficult day.
“But you beat cancer twice and lived 12 years while most people live six years.
“Heaven's got a good idea! Prince of peace forever. Love you.”
Along with the post, Wilson shared four photos of himself and Prince.
His 5.6 million followers flooded the comments section with their condolences.
One posted: “It's even harder when it's the puppy that's been there from the beginning. I feel for you so much.”
Another wrote: “The worst kind of pain. All dogs go to heaven.”
A third commented: “The prince will own heaven and meet you a long way down the road.”
A fourth said: “Man, I'm so sorry. Rest in peace, prince.”
Another added: “The sweetest boy… may God have mercy on him.”

Wilson recently announced his desire to remain with the Steelers after the one-year contract he signed in 2024 expires.
“That's the plan,” Wilson said Monday in the team's locker room.
“I love it here. I think we have a great football team.
“I think they know I always wanted to be here and play here, but it's also a process.”
However, Mike Tomlin is also expected to return to the team.
This is despite speculation that he could be fired from his position as head coach.
