The Miami Dolphins have been confirmed to host the first NFL game to be played in Spain next season.

Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium has already been chosen as the venue, with the Dolphins announced as the 'home' team on Friday.

This comes after confirmation that the Indianapolis Colts will host their first regular season game in Berlin in 2025.

“The exciting first-ever match in Spain underscores the NFL’s continued commitment to expanding its global footprint and reaching new audiences around the world,” said Brett Gosper, President of NFL Europe.

Madrid and Berlin are the latest host cities for the NRL series, joining regular host London, with five away games confirmed so far for the 2025 season, matching the previous record.

The dates and odds for those games will be announced when the full 2025 NFL schedule is revealed this spring.

“There is a thirst for football in this market [Spain]“We are proud to join the NFL in growing the game internationally while engaging with fans both old and new,” said Tom Garfinkel, CEO of the Miami Dolphins.

“With the unique synergy between Miami and Madrid, we believe this is just the beginning for us in this amazing region.”

London will again stage three NFL games in 2025, with home teams New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars, but there could be as many as eight international games next season.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also “expects” a return to Brazil and Mexico, with a “possible” first game in Ireland.

More announcements about international games are expected from the NFL next month.
