Patrick Mahomes is happy that the Kansas City Chiefs are viewed as the “bad guys” in the NFL.
Some NFL fans have grown tired of the Chiefs' dominance in recent years.
Head coach Andy Reid has guided the franchise to three The Super Bowl has been won the past five seasons.
Reid and his team became the first team since the New York Patriots to win back-to-back Super Bowl titles last February with a 25-22 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
NFL fans expressed their apparent annoyance with the Chiefs' presence in back-to-back Finals on social media and in person during the Super Bowl's opening night at Allegiant Stadium.
But star quarterback Mahomes didn't care much about their frustrations, saying last February: “I think I just like winning.
“If you win a lot and that makes you evil, I'm OK with that.
“But at the end of the day, I'm just going to enjoy the game and try to win as much as I can.”
Mahomes' mentality is also shared by defensive tackle Chris Jones, who said: “Everyone loved us.
“We used to be one of the favorite teams. Now everyone is ready for the Chiefs to lose.
“It's okay. They can keep hating. You call it hate when you win a lot.
“The problem is that we haven't won as much as people think.
“We only won twice [Super Bowls]right? “We only won two out of three.”
The Chiefs' bid to become the first team to win three straight Super Bowls begins Saturday afternoon.
The AFC West winners – who lost just two games in the regular season – will host the Houston Texans at Arrowfield Stadium in a divisional round game.
