Exclusive: Paul Wesley, the actor who played a vampire The Vampire Diariesis executive producing a series project about a vampire who wants to become an actor. The untitled comedy, which has arrived at Fox for development in competitive mode, follows a 25-year-old vampire struggling to run his murderous, suffocating vampire parents' family business while trying to chase his dream of becoming an actor.
It is written by unstable Co-writer Victor Fresco will be directed by Liz Friedlander (Rising). The duo and Wesley executive produce with Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan and KatCo's Tracy Katsky. Fox Entertainment is the studio.
The project team is all interconnected through previous collaborations. Frisco created the horror comedy series on Netflix Santa Clarita Dietwhich he executive produced with Kaplan and Katsky. Friedlander and Wesley have been friends since she directed episodes of a television series The Vampire Diaries. Wesley was star and director/executive producer of Friedlander on the CBS All Access thriller psychological drama series Kapital. tell me a story, Friedlander most recently directed episodes of Kapital's Starz horror comedy series Shine Valley. Wesley also has a production deal with Kapital for Citizen Media.
The idea for the vampire comedy came from Friedlander, Wesley, and Kaplan, who shared it with Frisco. The stadium received multiple offers before being built at Fox. Jesse Abbott and Dylan Hamalian will oversee the capital firm.
He also created the veteran comedy Frisco Andy Richter controls the universe and Better off Ted, Among other series. He is repped by WME and attorney Jared Levine.
Friedlander recently took out Apple TV+ Bad monkey And the upcoming Netflix Waterfront. She has directed pilots for series such as Tell me a story, Lincoln lawyer and Eq. She is repped by CAA and attorney Howard Abramson.
Wesley repeated Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Like James T. Kirk. He is repped by IAG, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
