L'Homme Presse narrowly beat Stage Star in a close finish in the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham.
There was little between the pair after the final fence before jockey Charlie Deutsch guided the 4-5 favorite to victory over Stage Star, ridden by Harry Cobden.
Gentlemansgame was third of the six runners, in the final meeting on the course before the Cheltenham Festival in March.
“It means everything. Every time I face him I get excited,” Deutsch told ITV Racing.
“His jump was very smooth. It turned into a kind of race to the goal line, and I didn't think we went that fast. He's very calm and composed which makes my job nice and easy.
“He was relaxed the whole race and then I said to him: ‘Come on, now we have to go and try to put things in perspective’ and he got a lot more there than most horses, that’s for sure.”
