Another retired firefighter died that he answered Duty during the darke of an hour in the city due to the 9/11 disease, according to FDNY.
Thomas Den, a former engine member 234 in Brooklyn, died on Saturday due to the illness that was born from the tremendous response to the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, according to the FDny Family Aid Unit at a social media employee.
“[Firefighter] Dan served our great section with honor and dedication for 7 years; “The response to the call when his city needs more,” the unit wrote. “I hope that his memory will be a blessing and his soul may rest in eternal peace.”
The Unified Firefighters Association, a non -profit advocacy organization that promotes health and safety and the interests of the firefighters in the city – said that its members are sad about the death of Dan.
“His family has already endured a great loss, including the death of his brother, [firefighter] Jimmy Den from [Ladder] 114, eight years ago, “I wrote the organization.” Please keep his father and loved ones in your prayers … never forget. ”
Several previous respondents in Dunn posted their condolences on Facebook, with one – Peter Playg – expressing his regret that his friend “has taken very early.”
“It seems that yesterday we were moving and fighting fires,” wrote in one group. “I will have elites tonight for all brothers from Cenichtadi Street, because working with you was already an honor.”
More than 370 firefighters have now died due to 9/11 diseases linked in the years that have passed on the terrorist attack, which killed 343 firefighters and about 3,000 people in general.
The Dan family will hold a special service in Florida, where he lived.
