Jonathan Davis, the former Wales Center, told SCRUM V: The Wrasp that the Welsh Rugby game faces “much larger issues”, and that the departure of Gatand will not be the solution.
“You see the product that we were able to put in the field and it was not good enough,” said Davis.
“I don't know if that is [parting ways with Gatland] It will get rid of all our problems, and there are much more problems.
“I think Warren felt that the guillotine was going down, so he decided to go on his own terms.
“It is difficult to see when such as this happens in the middle of the six nations.
“It is difficult for him, I'm sure, but perhaps it's time now to go forward, and the results are talking about themselves.”
Davis referred to the recent conflicts of the Wales without the twentieth of the last century, saying that the warning signs were present but were not dealt with.
“Less than 20 years, in the past eight years, the best that they have done is the fourth place in the six countries in 20 years.
“These players coming to the upper match now, if you start from this as a statistic, we get the lower half of the players’ gathering.
“We need to find the right employees to develop this talent.
“The problem is that the academic levels and talent production do not do this in the right way, and this is what affects us now.
“This is the product of these past eight years, as we have not performed at a level of less than 20.”
