A local source told the La Marseillais newspaper: “The Russian Consul General confirms that” the explosion occurred inside the consulate and that the firefighters entered. “
A primary correspondent claimed that two unknown people threw the Molotov cocktails in the building garden.
A stolen car was also found near the scene of the explosion.
The explosion came on the third anniversary of the Earth's invasion of Russia.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry claimed that the explosion was “all the distinctive features of a terrorist attack” – without providing any evidence.
