A HOMEOWNER has shared how they built their DIY privacy fence after getting an expensive quote.
By doing the transformation themselves, they managed to save over $10,000.

Redditor GoHokiez shared the DIY home project in a post.
They explained that after inquiring with professionals, they were quoted $10,000-$15,000 for a backyard privacy fence.
“We couldn’t afford the quotes we received, so I decided to take on the task myself with some assistance from Pops,” they said.
“It wasn’t too terrible. There are definitely some areas for improvement, but I’m happy with the outcome.”

The total length of their DIY fence clocked in at 420 feet and only cost them around $4,000.
A video showed off how the wooden fence ran along the entirety of their massive yard.
While putting the barrier up didn’t exactly prove seamless, they explained that it wasn’t too complicated.
They added that digging for posts near trees was more fun than they’d anticipated.
“[I] had to try in a few different spots until we were lucky enough to dig down two feet on either side within an eight-foot span without the need to cut through any large roots,” they said.
“It was one of the more enjoyable problems to figure out, though.”
They revealed that the DIY took them a few full days of work but was well worth it.
“Hard to estimate; I did it in my free time and on weekends over the course of two months,” they said.
“But if I had to guess, [it took] four to five full 12-hour days for one person.
“Circular saw, impact driver, drill, level, auger, post hole digger, concrete mixer, gloves, patience, and many audiobooks/podcasts queued up.”

They added that while the fence is bare at the moment, they hope their neighbor adds a finishing touch.
“I hope my neighbor paints Davy Jones’s face on his side,” they said.
Davy Jones, an actor who featured in Pirates of the Caribbean, nursed a beard that resembles a tree trunk.
Viewers praised them for their dedication and hard work.
