A scene in one of Disneyland‘s original rides is getting a modern makeover.

Peter Pan‘s Flight has been a staple at Disneyland since opening day in 1955, and is one of Walt Disney‘s few original attractions that remains operational.

One portion of the ride is getting a makeover, however. The so-called “Never Land Tribe scene,” which has for decades featured a chief in a headdress alongside drumming braves and a seated Tiger Lily, will now feature more benign-looking drummers and a more active Tiger Lily dancing alongside her grandmother. The chief is gone entirely.

The changes were already introduced at Walt Disney World last week, with visitors taking notice and posting photos. See below for before and after shots shared to social media.

Peter Pan’s Flight is based on Walt Disney’s 1953 animated classic, Peter Pan, which in turn was based on J.M. Barrie’s play and book of the same name. It should be noted that Peter Pan himself did not appear in the original ride at all, nor did most of the Native Americans — except a captive Tiger Lily, who was featured in the final scene. The version now known to most guests debuted as part of an updated Fantasyland in 1983.

The latest WDW revamp of the attraction reportedly took a little over a month. The timing on the Disneyland makeover is still to be determined, according to park officials.

Disneyland officials note they consider themselves “constant learners,” and as they become aware of changes that can make attractions “more authentic and relatable,” tweaks are made.
