WALMART customers are expressing their disdain for the chain after some shoppers were forced to wait in exorbitant lines.
One Walmart shopper posted their frustrations on Facebook, posting a photo of the long line and poor customer service he experienced while inside.

Walmart gotta do better,” posted Zack Alleyne, a shopper in South Carolina.
“Ain’t no way I’m waiting in that line,” he said.
“If we have to police self-checkout, take that option away,” he pleaded.
The line was longer before I left,” he continued.
“I left a cart of stuff on aisle 3,” he said.
“I apologize,” he said in his post to the staff who had to put his stuff back.
A plethora of comments under the post agreed with Alleyne.
“The scan and go is even worse,” wrote Gynielle Young.
“They legit be counting your items too,” Gail Brown commented about the chain’s self-checkout limits.
“Sales bout to drop and prices gonna go up because who got time for this every time they shop?” she asked.
“Took me about 30 minutes Saturday to check out.”
Alleyne isn’t the first customer to leave a full cart in the store after witnessing the line.
“I just walked out of Walmart leaving behind a cart full of groceries,” Albert John shared on Facebook.
“Seems this Walmart is all self-scan tonight and I’m just not gonna do their job,” he continued.
Another customer recently complained that she saw at least 10 employees in the store with only two registers open.
The shopper said she tried to buy 16 items.
Latest self-checkout changes
Retailers are evolving their self-checkout strategy in an effort to speed up checkout times and reduce theft.
Walmart shoppers were shocked when self-checkout lanes at various locations were made available only for Walmart+ members.
Other customers reported that self-checkout was closed during specific hours, and more cashiers were offered instead.
While shoppers feared that shoplifting fueled the updates, a Walmart spokesperson revealed that store managers are simply experimenting with ways to improve checkout performance.
One bizarre experiment included an RFID-powered self-checkout kiosk that would stop the fiercely contested receipt checks.
However, that test run has been phased out.
At Target, items are being limited at self-checkout.
Last fall, the brand surveyed new express self-checkout lanes across 200 stores with 10 items or less for more convenience.
As of March 2024, this policy has been expanded across 2,000 stores in the US.
Shoppers have also spotted their local Walmart stores restricting customers to 15 items or less to use self-checkout machines.
However, due to the store’s 15 items or less limit on self-checkout, she was stuck waiting on a lengthy line.
She detailed that she saw three workers counting items to enforce the policy, but still only two registers were open.
She also claimed that the other four or five people she counted were working around the store’s self-checkouts to monitor them while the line moved slowly and grew over time.
“Food Lion would never do me like this,” Alleyne ended his post.
