No time frame was given to Edi Hao's return to Newcastle, but assistant Jason Tindal says that the director will return once “100 % ready”.

Hao was accepted to the hospital with pneumonia on Friday, and his team won 4-1 against Manchester United on Sunday.

The following two matches against Crystal Palace will also miss on Wednesday and Aston Villa on Saturday, with Tindal and coach Grimm Jones remaining officials.

“We have conducted the minimum dialogue since this announcement,” Tindal said.

“There is no accurate time frame. This is something that we will evaluate day after day. The only question I can answer is that at the best possible hands, and as soon as he feels he is 100 % ready to lead the team's leadership.”

The victory over Manchester United has strengthened Newcastle to a place for the Champions League, where they sit one point behind Nottingham Forest, third in the Premier League, with seven games remaining.

Newcastle players, including Captain Bruno Jimara and the Harvey Barnes match player, has devoted their performance to Hui, saying they wanted to “put a smile on his face.”

In March, Hawa Newcastle led to his first local Cup for 70 years with his Carappo Cup final over Liverpool in Wembley.

He has been responsible for Magpies since November 2021, when Steve Bruce succeeded.

Tindal added that he did not talk to Hao about the team's preparation, but he was confident of leading the team during this decisive period.

“We know the expectations and demands that we put on each other and ourselves every day, and this will have to remain in this way until the manager returns.

“But we know what we need to do, and we know how we need to be ready to make sure that we can go and make offers that the manager is proud of.

“It is part of my job and I will do my best in his absence. We have worked together 17 years ago, so we know what is expected from each other, and I hope I can present the same messages as he wants.”
