DWP benefits – including comprehensive credit, attendance allowance, ESA – 1.7 % on April 7. However, most of the demands will have to wait until May before they get the higher amount of higher payments
Millions of Personal Independence (PIP) will not witness the increase in their payments until next month due to the rules for benefiting from the Ministry of Labor and pensions (DWP).
DWP benefits – including comprehensive credit, attendance allowance, ESA – 1.7 % on April 7. However, most demanding owners will have to wait until May before they receive the full amount of higher payments. This is because, according to the rules of entitlements, payments are usually released in four weeks late.
This means that the claimants will see a mixture of old and new prices until the full payment cycle is passed since the application of the uprising. DWP sends messages to all those demanding that they be informed of new payment amounts. This message works as an official record to prove your benefit to the benefit, and you do not need to do anything to get it. It will be applied automatically.

PIP is a disability subsidy and is paid to people with problems or mental or physical health disabilities in the long run. The goal of the benefit is to help additional costs of a healthy condition or disability.
The amount of benefits you receive depends on how your condition affects you – not the same condition. PIP is not a useful benefit – so you can claim it even if you work and have savings. Disability subsidy is paid every four weeks, consisting of two components – a daily livelihood rate and the rate of mobility.
You can be entitled to get both or only one of these. Then these ingredients are divided again, into the standard rate and the improvement average. You get a higher rate if your daily life is affected more in your condition or disability, and you will get a lower rate if it is less affected. Here are the current rates of PIP, after a rise in April.
Daily life
- Standard rate: £ 73.90 week – 295.60 pounds sterling For each payment period
- Augmented rate: 110.40 pounds sterling week – 441.60 pounds For each payment period
Mobility
- Standard rate: 29.20 pounds week – 116.80 pounds sterling For each payment period
- Augmented rate: 77.05 pounds sterling week – 308.20 pounds For each payment period
Suggested PIP changes
When talking about PIP, you cannot fail to mention the changes suggested by the work government last month. Labor and Pension Minister Liz Kendall announced that the government was looking to tighten eligibility standards to benefit and review the evaluation process.
For a successful PIP claim, you usually need an evaluation used to determine the tasks that you fight with and how your condition affects your daily life. This is completed using the points system.
You currently need between eight and 11 points to get a portion of standard daily life or move from PIP across all sections. You get a higher rate if you record 12 points or more. However, in light of the changes, you will need four points as a minimum in at least one activity to qualify for the daily living part of the PIP from November 2026.
This means that the demands will need to show more difficulty when completing some tasks, such as washing, eating and dressing, to be qualified to demand PIP. While they will not affect those who are currently right, it will affect people when it comes to re -submitting or re -evaluating it after the new rules enter into force. The PIP transmission component does not change.
Citizen's advice says that those who will be qualified to obtain a PIP, but they are not currently demanding at the present time, they must put a claim and are not postponed with the upcoming changes.
“On March 18, 2025, the government announced changes to the rules of claiming PIP. These changes mean that less people will get PIP.
PIP changes will not occur in 2025. If you are considering applying for PIP, you should do so. You are more likely to get a PIP if you request before changing the rules. “
