Thirty -three days after his dramatic victory over the Master, who saw him only the sixth who wins all the four majors, most of the eyes were on Mcilroy while he was heading as part of three balls containing the best three players in the world.
Mcilroy – USA champion PGA in 2012 and 2014 – has an excellent record in Quail Hollow, winning four events on the PGA tour there during his career.
The second world number began with a pupil in the fifteenth race – his first hole from today – but he gave that shot directly through three ghosts on the eleventh green.
This was followed by another bird in 15, but the trio of the pavilion stumbles at the entrance to the extension of the three -hole of the Quail Hollow, known as “Mile Green”.
The sixteenth hole left with a double ghost after Mcilroy put the shooting of the thick sidewalk, Scheffler and Schauffle threw its second bullets in the water.
Later, both Scheffler and Schauffle expressed their frustration with a decision not to allow “favorite lies” on Thursday, after heavy rains in the event.
The couple was particularly angry at bad luck in the sixteenth hole when their clay balls picked up, which they claimed affected their next shots to green. If the pre -lies were in place, it would have been allowed to raise, clean and replace her balls.
After a series of PARS at the end of his first tour, the main winner of Mcilroy ended with another bullet in the last hole.
Only four of 14 corridors were struck from the starting point, a statistic that he must improve if he wants to return to competition.
However, Mcilroy has already shown this year that he could recover from a large deficit in the first round to win one of the largest sports awards – seven shots behind Justin Rose after the first round of The Masters before returning to win the green jacket.
The second round of Mcilroy is scheduled to start at 18:47 GMT on Friday.
