Their lawyers said on Tuesday that the Erik and Lile Mindez session in front of the Caliphorn's Caliphorn's Release Council had been returned to August.
This delay comes after the governor of the state withdrew Gavin News, his request from the Conditional Release Council to evaluate the brothers for the sake of compassion, as they search for their freedom after 35 years behind bars to kill their parents.
The brothers were sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of a conditional release of the shooting of their father, Jose Mainndez, and the mother, Kitty Mainndes, at their palace Beverly Hills in 1989. They were 18 and 21 at that time.
A judge in Los Angeles opened the door for freedom last week by giving brothers a new 50 -year penalty, making them immediately qualified to release conditional under California law because they were 26 years old when they committed their crimes.
Their lawyers said that at first he held a hearing to reach an appointment in June, but it has since been transferred to a hearing appropriate to the conditional release and pushed to August 21 and 22.
Scott Wikov, CEO of the Caliphorn's Caliphorn's Release Sessions, said in an e -mail to lawyers on both sides that the New Roosom ruler withdrew a request for an investigation last Thursday in light of the decision of the judge.
The ruler's office refused to comment on the decision, but indicated that the request for compassion is still active.
The cousin of the brotherhood, anamaria baralt, said in a video posted on Tiktok that the change will benefit the brothers, given that many people did not give the conditional release in the first hearing.
“This is not a bad thing,” Baralet said. “Most people are preparing to make conditional for a year … the more time they can prepare, the better.”
