ARTIFICIAL intelligence has predicted the most popular color options for Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16.
So, if you want the trendiest model—or you’re looking to dodge the one everyone wants—it might be worth listening to AI.
Of course Apple hasn’t announced its line-up of iPhone 16 color options yet.
That’s because Apple hasn’t even confirmed the iPhone 16’s existence – and won’t until its special event on September 9.
But leaks and insiders seem to agree on roughly what we’ll see from the new iPhone 16, which allows AI to make some predictions.
COLOR US SURPRISED?
First, we need to know what colors are being rumored for this year.
When we’re looking at the iPhone 16, we’re expecting the following options:
The swap from last year would be yellow dropped for white.
When it comes to the iPhone 16 Pro, it’s rumored we’ll see the following four colors:
- White Titanium
- Black Titanium
- Natural Titanium
- Desert Titanium
That would mean Apple would drop the iPhone 15 Pro’s Blue Titanium for a new bronze Desert color—previously described as close to “rose gold.”
POPULAR PREDICTIONS
The U.S. Sun spoke to an AI chatbot powered by GPT-4o – just like ChatGPT to find out what it thought would be the most popular colors.
And to our surprise, it didn’t pick the brand new White and Desert Titanium paint jobs.
Instead, it said the iPhone 16’s most popular color option would be black.
“Its classic and universally appealing nature makes it a safe bet for being the most popular color,” the AI told us.
However, the AI did note that it also expected Pink and Blue to be big hits.
“With the increasing popularity of unique and vibrant colors, pink could attract a significant number of buyers, especially among younger demographics and those looking for a more personalized and stylish device,” the AI said.
It added: “Blue has also been a popular choice in previous models and offers a balance between being bold and versatile.”
For the iPhone 16 Pro, the AI suggested that the top pick would be Black Titanium.
What is ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a new artificial intelligence tool
ChatGPT, which was launched in November 2022, was created by San Francisco-based startup OpenAI, an AI research firm.
It’s part of a new generation of AI systems.
ChatGPT is a language model that can produce text.
It can converse, generate readable text on demand and produce images and video based on what has been learned from a vast database of digital books, online writings and other media.
ChatGPT essentially works like a written dialogue between the AI system and the person asking it questions
GPT stands for Generative Pre-Trained Transformer and describes the type of model that can create AI-generated content.
If you prompt it, for example ask it to “write a short poem about flowers,” it will create a chunk of text based on that request.
ChatGPT can also hold conversations and even learn from things you’ve said.
It can handle very complicated prompts and is even being used by businesses to help with work.
But note that it might not always tell you the truth.
“ChatGPT is incredibly limited, but good enough at some things to create a misleading impression of greatness,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in 2022.
“Given the Pro model’s target audience often prefers a sleek and professional look, Black Titanium is likely to be the most popular choice,” the AI told The U.S. Sun.
The AI did say that Natural and Desert Titanium were also likely to be popular.
“As a new and unique option, Desert Titanium might attract those looking for something different and exclusive, but its popularity will largely depend on how well it is received in initial reviews and marketing,” the AI noted.
And it said that the Natural Titanium paintjob would “appeal to users looking for a more understated yet luxurious look, similar to how silver or space gray options have been favored in the past”.
Of course, these colors might not even be available for the iPhone 16 line-up.
The AI can’t truly predict the most popular color—it can only guess based on “historical trends and consumer preferences.”
But it seems like a fairly good guess: black is a safe and popular iPhone color option, so it may be this year’s hit option.
