GENERAL Hospital fans have learned all about star Rick Hearst’s career outside of the popular soap opera.
The actor shared a social media post showing off the beauty of New Jersey, where he lives, and dropped a bombshell about what he does for work outside of Hollywood.
Rick, 59, shared a video on Instagram from the backyard of his home, showing off his lush green lawn as he discussed the perks of life in the Garden State.
As he talked, he revealed that in addition to acting, he works in real estate.
“I’ve been on break from GH for a couple weeks now. Gonna go back in a couple of days. Gonna get on a plane. I’m in Jersey, currently. New Jersey where I live. I just kind of wanted to show folks what it looks like. A lot of people think New Jersey is all, you know, no offense to the city but Newark and the airport and the outlying areas,” he said.
“The part that I live in is South Central New Jersey, is a beautiful place. I also happen to be a real estate agent here. I love helping people find homes here, sell their homes here. It’s really a great lifestyle out here.”

Fans in the comments were stunned to learn that the soap opera actor lives and works in New Jersey.
Many showed pride in being from the state, while others noted that Rick isn’t the only General Hospital star who works in real estate.
“Proud to be from NJ. NJ always gets a bad rap,” one commenter wrote.
A second pointed out, “Drew [Cheetwood] is a realtor here in Michigan! Aka Milo [Giabetti] Good to see you back at GH.”
“New Jersey is a beautiful state for sure. Lots of green space. It’s great to have you back on GH and especially your scenes with Rebecca,” penned a third.
“Love having you back on GH. Hope you are on for a long time!” celebrated a fourth fan.
A fifth commented, “Love this and love that you are in New Jersey!! I’ve lived in south Jersey my whole life and LOVE it!!”
Rick and Drew are just a few of the soap opera stars with other careers.
Similar to them, The Young and the Restless star Kate Linder previously revealed that she works as a flight attendant on weekends when she’s not filming the show.
She claimed the job helps her stay humble and remember who she is.

Rick is a veteran in the soap opera world, appearing on shows like Guiding Light, The Young and The Restless, and The Bold and The Beautiful, to name a few.
Prior to his appearance on the show, General Hospital teased an emotional reunion between his character, Ric, and his daughter Molly Lansing-Davis (played by Kristen Vaganos) in a clip on the show’s official Instagram account.

SCHEDULE PROBLEMS
The August 22 episode of General Hospital marked the first time Ric appeared on the show since 2016.
General Hospital previously confirmed Rick would reprise the role on July 25, 2024.
The actor addressed the scheduling mix-up in an Instagram post, telling fans he was “very excited to announce my return” to General Hospital.
“Stay tuned. You never know what you’re gonna get with this guy,” he went on to say.
Earlier this month, Rick apologized to fans for a schedule mishap, after previously suggesting that his character would make an appearance during an earlier episode.
“I got the dates wrong. My bad,” Rick confessed, after fans expressed their disappointment over not seeing him on the show.
“I’m not going to give you definitives because I don’t want to stick my foot in my mouth again,” he added at the time.
