DONALD Trump blamed his rivals Joe Biden and Kamala Harris after the apparent second assassination attempt in a single election cycle.
The ex-President, 78, said the top Democrats’ rhetoric is “causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save this country”.
Biden and Harris have described Trump as a danger over his refusal to concede defeat in 2020.
Republican hopeful Trump referred to them calling him a “threat to democracy”.
Speaking of alleged gunman Ryan Routh, who has supported both major US parties, Trump added: “He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it.
“It is called the enemy from within. They are the real threat.”
Trump has made dark claims about immigrants a key tactic as he prepares to face-off against Harris on November 5.
But he said he does not use the “inflammatory language” of the Democrats.
In a message on his social media network later, Trump said “the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse” before writing all-capital letters attack on immigrants.
In Washington yesterday, Biden said he was thankful his predecessor survived the shooting attempt.
He also added that the US Secret Service “needs more help”.
