The Chiefs may be turning to a familiar face with Isiah Pacheco headed to injured reserve.

Kareem Hunt is scheduled to visit with the Chiefs on Tuesday, according to multiple reports, setting up a possible reunion with the team he started his career with.

Hunt is currently without a team after playing his first two seasons in the NFL with the Chiefs before going to Cleveland, where he played from 2019 up until last year.

The 29-year-old is ways away from the football he had been playing early on when he rushed for 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns during his rookie season in 2017.

Hunt was waived by the Chiefs in November of 2018 when video surfaced of the running back pushing a woman and kicking her and served an eight-game suspension the following season after he signed with Cleveland.

The back has appeared in 91 games – starting 38 of them – while recording 4,436 yards on the ground for 40 touchdowns and 1,890 passing yards for 17 touchdown catches.

The news of Hunt’s visit comes after it came out that Pacheco was expected to miss six to eight weeks due to the broken fibula he suffered during the Week 2 win over the Bengals.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters Monday afternoon addressing the options that Kansas City has at the running back position.

Reid said that general manager Brett Veach was “looking at people” in terms of free agents.

“We’ll just see where that goes,” Reid said, according to the Kansas City Star. “But we’re blessed to have some good people here.”

Rookie Carson Steele is one of those options behind Pacheco, a Rutgers product, and he played part of Sunday’s win over Cincinnati.
